Performance, one of the most fundamental building blocks of a successful songwriting career, is often used as a way to determine the quality of a song.
The best performers are able to craft a song with more or less control, often to a point where it feels like the listener is in control.
But how much control do they really have?
We asked our listeners and listeners in general to share their favorite performances.
The results: The best performances came from a group of five musicians, who were asked to create a song that was either very fast, very slow, or none of the above.
The result: “the song that made the best impression was a very fast song.
And it was not necessarily a slow song.
It was one that just sounded really good,” one of our listeners, Ben Hildebrandt, said.
“I think it was the slow song that had the best impact.”
Here’s a look at the five best performances.
